GUIDES

My Approach

Once I start learning a new language I start a another individual document. In this one, I will continuously keep track and write down everything I learn about the language. With time it will serve as a crucial tool to master this very one, as the more you learn, the likelier you are to forget. So having all knowledge at one's disposal allows one to review easily and, most importantly, efficiently. It majorly focuses here on grammar and vocabulary. De facto: an ordered section explaining all grammar as briefly yet accurately as possible (including sentence examples if necessary), and an extended accumulation of vocabulary (either alphabetical, or context-based if sensible).
You are welcome to refer to my documents.

JAPANESE

Textbooks:

I firmly suggest the one's I used: Genki I & Genki II, An Integrated Course In Elementary Japanese. These two textbooks cover all the basics of Japanese, are well-rounded (vocab, kanji, grammar, reading, listening, etc.). Additionally, they are exceedingly efficient for self-study for attaining level N5 and N4.

Powerful online Japanese dictionary: jisho.org.

Before starting, it would be useful for interested individuals to know at least Hiragana.

Documents:

  • Japanese Textbook & Encyclopedia:

    • Links to Resources

    • Detailed explanation of verb, adjective and noun conjugation

    • 200+ grammar points ordered and sorted according to level (with sentence examples) (adapted for self study)

    • Basic vocabulary lists (beginner vocab & vocab sorted by context, e.g. Anatomy, Colors, etc.)

  • 単語:

    • List of 10.000+ different words and expressions with Hiragana, Kanji and English meaning

  • 漢字の練習紙:

    • List of 1.000+ Kanjis with their Kun-yomi reading, on-yomi reading, English Meaning and example words that use that kanji as practice

  • 敬語:

    • 9 Page document containing all information concerning 敬語 (keigo)

    • List of words that need to be adapted (Verbs & Nouns)

    • List of expressions for many different contexts

KOREAN

First and foremost, I am still a beginner to Korean, so please proceed with this in mind.

My Korean Dictionary currently holds 20+ grammar points (explained in English) and 400+ different words and expressions.

Whilst I am still novice, expressions and vocabulary are definitely not erroneous.

TRAVEL AND ACTIVITY DATABASES

Here you will have access to my travel and activity plans for certain cities. Currently there is only Tokyo.

The entries of the databases have many attributes:

Name; Type of Activity; Area (the area it is situated in); Pictures; the Nearest Station; Metro Lines (from the nearest station); Additional Notes, the Address, as well as the Location (pictures from Google Maps, zoomed in and out).

The activities range from sightseeing or shrines, to cafés or restaurants, to parks or shopping and many more.

Furthermore, some of these activities have been grouped up to create a 1-day plan (with other nearby activities).

Databases have been developed in Airtable.
